Dr. Michael A. Campbell. O.D.

Dr. Michael Campbell is the founder of Optical Solutions and has been in private practice for 30 years in the Hilton Head and Bluffton area. Dr. Campbell graduated from Indiana University and received his Doctorate degree, at Indiana University School of Optometry. While working on his doctorate he performed an externship in Indianapolis, Indiana and Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Dr. Campbell and his wife Maureen fell in love with the Low Country and opened their first office at the Plaza at Shelter Cove in 1988. With hard work and excellent customer service they captured the Small Business of the Year Award from the Hilton Head Chamber of Commerce in 1999. They have nurtured its growth over the past 28 years and opened 2 more state of the art facilities in the Low Country.

Dr. Campbell has been involved with the Lions Club, St. Francis Catholic Church, the Island Rec Center, and Dixie Youth Baseball. Dr. Campbell is certified through the National Board of Examiners and the South Carolina Board of Examiners in Optometry. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, as well as the South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association. Dr. Campbell has served on the South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association board from 2011-2015. With hard work and his love for his profession he was elected President for SCOPA in August 2015 . Dr. Campbell’s highest concern is to provide the most advanced and highest quality eye care to patients. He pledges to maintain excellence in caring for the South Carolina citizens and protecting their visual welfare. The Low Country Optometric Society is among another organization he stays active with. Dr. Michael Campbell enjoys seeing all ages of patients and concentrates on routine eye exams, diagnosing and treating disease, Lasik eye surgery comangement, and contact lenses. He has been on staff at the Hilton Head Hospital for the past 26 years.

Dr. Campbell and his wife, Maureen, have 4 children. Collan, a graduate of College of Charleston is employed with Norfolk Southern, Michael, a graduate of Clemson University and attending Optometry School at Indiana University, Kevin, a sophomore at Clemson University and Catherine, a freshman also at Clemson University. When Dr. Campbell is not spending time with his family he enjoys being on the water and enjoying the outdoors. His love for baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals is among one of his favorites!!


Dr. James D. Kondor, O.D.

Dr James Kondor is a graduate of Illinois College Of Optometry. He has been a practicing Optometrist for 44 years, 25 years on Hilton Head Island. Dr Kondor served in the navy at the Navel Hospital in New London, CT and the Naval Hospital in Kittery, ME. He is married with two children and three grandchildren. Dr Kondor is a Charter member of the Hilton Head Island Noon Lions Club. He has volunteered his time with vision screenings, served on many local, state and international committees with Lions Club International.

Dr Kondor enjoys working with patients of all ages. His practice emphasis on Vision Therapy and Low Vision. His strong point clinically is his ability to communicate and make patients feel comfortable with their vision.

Jim enjoys spending quality time with his grandchildren and loves to play a mean game of tennis!!


Dr. Tara M. Baideme, O.D.

Dr. Tara Baideme was born and raised in western New York. She completed her undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology from the State University of New York Colleges of Geneseo, and Brockport. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2005 where she received clinical honors during her internships in glaucoma, pediatrics, and primary care. Dr. Baideme practiced in southern New Hampshire for several years before returning close to home in western New York for almost eight years. While in New York, she specialized in diagnosing and treating glaucoma and dry eye, and began lecturing other optometrists and ophthalmologists as a Physician Speaker for Allergan, Inc. After too many brutal winters in New York, Dr. Baideme and her family decided to make the move to the Low Country.

Dr. Baideme is passionate about treating her patients, and is excited to offer her expertise in the area of contact lenses, as well. She utilizes the latest contact lens technology to offer vision at all ranges to her patients, as well as helping dry eye patients get back into contacts. When she isn’t at the office, Dr. Baideme is often chasing after her two young boys with her husband while enjoying all the Low Country has to offer.


Dr. Michael J. Berzansky, O.D.

When scheduling an exam with Dr. Berzansky at the Hospital Center location, you can be assured of receiving a thorough, personable, and non-rushed patient centered experience for you and your family. While incorporating over 10 years of clinical experience caring for patients of all ages, Dr. Berzansky’s commitment is to develop a customized care plan tailored specifically for all of your eye care needs.

Originally from the Pittsburgh, PA area, Dr. Berzansky graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2005. Upon graduating, he received the “Clinical Excellence in Primary Care” award from the faculty for excellence in eye care. His past medical and surgery co-management internships included rotations at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Manchester, NH; and at the Laurel Eye Clinic and Surgery Center in Altoona and Grove City PA. Additionally, Dr. Berzansky gained valuable experience caring for children while interning in the pediatric department of the The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Berzansky also focuses on helping patients who require difficult to fit contact lenses (i.e. high astigmatism, keratoconus, corneal scarring, etc.). Dr. Berzansky initially gained experience with one of the industry’s leading specialty contact lens fitters, Dr. Stephen Byrnes. Fitting the latest in contact lens innovations, Dr. Berzansky fits the following types of contact lenses: custom designed soft lenses of all types, Gas Permeable lenses, Hybrid (soft/gas permeable combined), and the newest design of Scleral lenses. If you are motivated to wear contact lenses, Dr. Berzansky will make every effort to find a lens that can work for you!


Dr. Haley Bowles, O.D.

Dr. Haley Bowles is a 2012 graduate of Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated Cum Laude and was chosen for membership in the Gold Key Honorary Optometric Society restricted to ten percent of the fourth year class. She was involved in many activities, such as the student government association where she served as treasurer one year and class representative for three years. She also served as the student liaison for the American Optometric Association Political Action Committee. She was also a member of Lions Club, Omega Delta, and the Student Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity.

After graduation, she worked at West Tennessee Eye in Memphis providing comprehensive visual care, in addition to full-scope management of ocular diseases, infection, inflammation, and trauma before moving to the Hilton Head Island area in 2014. She is a member of the South Carolina Optometric Association and is currently the Low Country Society President. Outside of Optometry, Dr. Bowles is an active member of Zonta, a global network of professional women whose mission is to advance the status of women through sevice and advocacy. She serves on the Board of Directors and is co-chair of the service and advocacy committee.

Before entering Optometry School, she completed her undergraduate biology degree at the University of Georgia and then worked at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta, GA. She loves UGA and declares there is no better fall activity than watching Georgia Football…GO DAWGS!
