About Dr. Michael A. Campbell, O.D.
Dr. Michael A. Campbell began his career after graduating from Indiana University and earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry. During his training, he completed externships in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where he developed his passion for helping patients achieve better vision and eye health.
In 1987, Dr. Campbell founded Optical Solutions, LLC, opening his first office at The Plaza at Shelter Cove on Hilton Head Island. His dedication to patient care and commitment to exceeding expectations helped the practice grow rapidly. A few years later, in 1999, Optical Solutions was honored as Small Business of the Year by the Hilton Head Chamber of Commerce, a reflection of Dr. Campbell’s excellence in both patient care and community service.
As Hilton Head and Bluffton continued to expand, Dr. Campbell opened additional state-of-the-art eye care facilities to serve his growing patient base.
- In 1992, he opened a second location at the Island Medical Plaza.
- In 2005, he launched the Hospital Center Commons facility, adjacent to Hilton Head Hospital, featuring a 1800 sq. ft. optical dispensary and a full-service lab.
- In 2011, Dr. Campbell opened a Bluffton office in the Promenade, which expanded to a larger, custom-built location at 27 Dr. Mellichamp Drive in 2017.
